Tourism increases again

Foreign revenue earned from the tourism industry in the Czech Republic totaled 57.3464 billion Czech crowns in the first six months of 2007 a 9.1-percent increase compared to the same period last year
The increase in revenues was due to several factors, including higher spending by foreign tourists in the Czech Republic.
Another factor was a four-percent increase in the number of foreign tourists staying in the country during the first six months of 2007. There were 3,005,504 foreign tourists staying in the Czech Republic last year, a number that is growing.
German tourists make up the largest proportion (2,721,396) of this figure, followed by Russians (832,370) and then tourists from Great Britain (677,920).
During this six-month period, foreign visitors accounted for 9,406,674 nights spent in the Czech Republic, a 2.1-percent increase over last year. The average length of stay amounted to 4.1 days. Russians stay in the Czech Republic the longest with an average stay of 6.6 days, followed by Ukrainians at 5.1 days, German and Dutch tourists.
